Who?

Hi. I’m alex. As a climbing coach i’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse variety of individuals; from new climbers taking their first steps, to gb youth athletes competing around the world, from those projecting outdoor rock routes, to mma champions wanting to increase their grip strength.

I’ve coached in a variety of environments and countries, from community bouldering gyms, to goliath arenas in Hungary, from local lead centres to EICA RATHO.

This breadth of experience enables me to support climbers take their next steps wherever they are in their climbing journey or whatever their goals may be. my approach is founded on developing climbers in a sustainable, holistic manner; fundamentally creating a strong coach - climber relationship that enables us to develop our physical, technical and tactical skills, whilst supporting the climber PSYCHOLOGICALLY.

Why?

my brother introduced me to the sport when i was 10 and it quickly became an obsession, heading to the local bouldering wall as much as i could, after school, weekends, all day in the holidays; about as much as i could feasibly manage.

climbing very much remained a personal endeavour until i was 21, when a new boulder wall gave me an opportunity to work for them, it was this opportunity that acted as the catalyst for my coaching career. in working as a coach i realised how fulfilling i found it, working with young climbers who had the drive and willingness to learn, to grow and to adapt all the while, developing my own skills and capacity to coach.

to this day i remain grateful to all those who helped foster my journey and feel incredibly lucky to be able to share my passion for such an incredible sport with so many incredible youth athletes.

WHERE?

I work across the south east at a fantastic variety of centres, so always have something to offer, no matter what you’re after!
